Wollaston Lake 1978 Caribou Project

A set of 44 photos of a caribou project at Wollaston Lake that involved students in preparing and cooking caribou meat, making dry meat, drying the hides, and taking part in follow-up activities in the classroom. -p01: A view of the town across the bay. -p02 to -p04: Views of the environment of the area. -p05 to -p09: Getting wood for the fire. -p10: Getting the caribou heads ready to cook. -p11 to -p12: Cooking the caribou heads over the fire. -p13 to -p15: Cooking the meat over the fire. -p16: Cooking a caribou head and some ribs. -p17: The community instructor explains what is being done. -p18: Students observing the process. -p19: Students cooking the meat. -p20 to -p21: The meat is done! -p22 to -p28: Kids eating the caribou meat. -p29 to -p30: Preparing another caribou head. -p31: Caribou meat cut up. -p32: Cutting up the meat. -p33 to -p35: Cutting the meat to make dry meat. -p36 to -p38: Caribou hides drying. -p39: Meat stored on a roof. -p40 to -p44: Language follow-up in the classroom.
