Findings suggest that renewables, in the form of wind generation, play an important role in providing energy needs, particularly for remote communities.
Updates information from Nature of Nursing Practice in Rural and Remote Canada: An Analysis of Policy Documents published in 2003. Search involved grey literature and government documents from Canada, United States, Australia and New Zealand and generated 29 results. Five thematic areas were found: advanced practice; nursing practice issues; educational preparation of registered nurses; physician supply; and health care delivery.
Uses review of literature, focus group interviews, statistical data and the administration of Quality of Life for Homeless and Hard-to-House Individuals inventory to assess reasons for homelessness, gaps in services and potential solutions for individuals residing in Inuvik and communities in the Beaufort Delta.
Fictionalized narrative is based on authors' experiences working in rural communities, knowledge of substance abuse prevention programs, and discussions with residents about their needs and visions. Presents dilemmas, challenges and innovations specific to Alaska.
