Describe the creation and early years of the independent school created by Kwakwaka’wakw parents on ‘Namgis First Nation territory; discusses inclusion of cultural and traditional teachings, and its evolution as one of the longest running independent schools in the province.
Study in three villages showed villagers are exposed to structural factors such as social, political, environmental and economic that effect health risk.
Study interviews 3380 second-year residents for self-reported symptoms of burnout; also asks participants to rate their feelings towards black or white people, and measures unconscious bias. Findings suggest that burnout in doctors might be contributing to disparity in patient care.
Looks at the rejection of federal Bill C-33, First Nations Control of First Nations Education Act, and an alternative education decision-making model that is more aligned with the Mi'kmaq "Talking Circle" tradition.
