Identifies obstacles the Tlingit community must overcome in order to best utilize the authority allowed to them under the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).

The person being interviewed is apparently telling traditional stories. However, a great deal of the dialogue is inaudible and the stories are thus virtually incomprehensible.

Study focused on: linkages between intergenerational trauma caused by residential schools and involvement in child protection systems and homelessness; the effect on sense of identity and connection to heritage; promising practices in providing supports and services; and life factors and experiences which mitigate effects of intergenerational trauma.

Search of literature published between 2010 and 2016 which focused on either Alberta or Canada produced 44 results. Results are arranged under the headings interconnected worldview, development of legal traditions, positive individual and collective identity, and self-determination.

Looks at links between historic and contemporary rationales for interfering with Indigenous families and discusses how literary arts can foster cross-cultural and cross-generational understanding.

Presents the story of a woman finding her natural mother with the help of Link-up, an organization established to help Aboriginal fostered or adopted adults find their families.

Aboriginal youth comprise 5% of Canada's youth population but nearly 50% of children and youth under government care are Aboriginal.

Anthropology Thesis (M.A.)--University of Calgary, 2015.

Summarizes some of the issues impacting the well-being of First Nations children living on reserve including jurisdictional disputes, inequitable funding, lack of respect for Indigenous laws and ways and using the Indian Act to clarify the rights of children and their families. Concludes with recommendations.

Suggest ways in which social workers and foster parents can combat racism.
