Thomas McKay in 1882. McKay was an English Metis (Countryborn) actively opposed to Riel in the Northwest Resistance.
Historical note:
Prince Albert's municipal history began in 1885, with the election of the Honourable Thomas McKay as mayor; it was also the year that the community was incorporated as a town.
