Description
Designed to complement the FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) principles of the open data movement as means to use Indigenous data in ways determined by Indigenous peoples and for their benefit. Principles are related to collective benefit, authority to control, responsibility, and ethics.
A set of 184 photographs recording a trip north to Selwyn Lake by a class from Black Lake School to experience a caribou hunt. The Dene people of northern Saskatchewan have for centuries depended on the vast herds of caribou that migrate north and south through their lands. North in the spring to calve and south in the fall for winter cover inside the tree line. In recent times the people have become more dependent on food from the local store, but they still prefer caribou to any other food, and hunters still go to the traditional hunting grounds or harvest them when the herds come near their communities. The students in this school project were fortunate to go to a winter camp and participate in a traditional learning experience with people who had lived in that way for most of their lives.

Study interpretation concluded that deaths were occurring at an alarming rate, particularly young women or those using injection drugs. Argues that these results reflect intersections of current and historical injustices, substance use and barriers to care.
This interactive Google Earth project is a guided tour that introduces the user to over 80 Indigenous languages from around the globe. At each point on the map the user can view a photo and bio of an Indigenous language speaker from that region and listen to clips of them speaking their language.
Identifies community-level research initiatives and demonstrations of cultural and practice-based strategies for prevention and intervention. Findings are organized around models, and strengths and challenges are listed for each model.
