Study looked at four main outcomes that could be either positive or negative: emergence or maintenance of distinct cultures, changes in access to employment and quality of services, and attitudes toward an area.

Study outlines the general situation, discusses four case studies (Lu’ma Native Housing Society, Vancouver; Corporation Waskahegen, Quebec; Métis Urban Housing Association of Saskatchewan; Kinew Housing, Winnipeg) and makes recommendations.
Methods included literature review, "talking circles" to engage parents and students in discussion, visits to schools in Edmonton and Winnipeg, and analysis and categorization of information. Goal was to develop practical ideas which could be incorporated into day-to-day operations.
