On 2 May 1885 Lieutenant Colonel William Otter was defeated by Poundmaker's war chief Fine-Day at the Battle of Cut Knife near Battleford, SK. A flying column of Canadian militia and army regulars was defeated by Poundmaker despite their use of a Gatling gun.Overview of Gordon Tootoosis and Maria Campbell's speeches at the 2007 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences. The two speakers talked about the importance of theatre in Aboriginal culture and the hurdles they faced in their careers.
