HLA Class II Alleles in Amerindian Populations: Implications for the Evolution of HLA Polymorphism and the Colonization of the Americas

Genetic analysis suggests that modern Amerindian populations are derived from a common ancestral population which likely displayed a similar degree and pattern of DRBl diversity as a result of a founder effect.
