Looked into allegations of child abuse in remote South Australian Aboriginal communities which had come to light during the course of the Children in State Care Commission of Inquiry (CISC Inquiry). Part I: The Inquiry. Part II: Child Sexual Abuse on the Lands.

Objectives were to: identify number of Aboriginal full-time equivalent positions; identify which positions were exempted from Equal Opportunity legislation and which were Aboriginal-specific; examine the nature of positions; and undertake a comparative analysis of the number of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal trainees.

Questions focused on recruitment and retention issues.

Discussion of the nature of Aboriginal employment and barriers to achieving the desired number and level of appointments and retaining those hired to fill positions.

Argues that as well as numbers employed other factors such as type and level of appointment and retention must be considered. Looks at quality of employment experience and barriers to achieving desired outcomes and concludes with 14 recommendations.

Designed to measure participant changes in four areas: awareness, understanding, knowledge, and prevention strategies.
