It updates the activities of the Riel Project, an project established by the Universities of Alberta, Calgary, and Sherbrooke, which sought to publish a critical, bilingual edition of the collected writings of Louis Riel to mark the 100th anniversary of his death. A five-volume edition was published by the University of Alberta Press in 1985.
