McNeil's presentation covers secondary education, housing for students, language issues, teacher training, literacy concerns, and cultural concerns. Following the presentations Commissioners Dussault and Sillet discuss these findings.

Punko outlines his views on Federal policy towards First Nations, with particular attention to legislative, economic, and social issues. Punko suggests that more attention need be payed to issues of local self-governance. Following the presentation is a discussion between the Commissioners and Punko on these topics.

File contains a presentation by Tony Sinclair, Student, Anicinabe School. Sinclair, who is Junior Chief of Anicinabe School highlights a variety of concerns including: a lack of recreation and related facilities for youth, the need for daycare, the need for improved road infrastructure, the need for running water, and a request that the school board cut funding for band students who go to school off reserve and invest that funding in the community's school instead.

File contains a presentation by Treena Miller of the North East Native Advancing Society. Miller discusses her organization's Board of Directors who form the governing body responsible for "the program development, program delivery and the funding allocation to meet the training needs of the Aboriginal people in North East B.C." Miller then discusses the educational training issues which her organization has identified through their experiences with programs in the North East. These include funding, staffing, and cultural concerns.

File contains a presentation by Frank Parnell and Cliff Anderson of Tricorp. Tricorp is the Tribal Resources Investment Corporation. Parnell delivers an overview of "economic development in how it evolved in the northwest here right from our involvement in the village that I'm from to where we are at today" and then makes four recommendations to the Commission regarding it. Following Parnell's presentation, he and Anderson field questions from the assembled Commissioners.

This file contains a presentation by Valerie Nielson, Bob Brown, John Snow Jr., George Calliou and Sandra Parsons focusing on Aboriginal involvement in the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. An Aboriginal Opportunities Commitee, with the Calgary Chamber, was formed in 1980. The objectives of the Committee are to recognize the importance of Aboriginal people in our community, and for the Chamber to play an active role in helping the Aboriginal community improve their economic situation. A question-and-answer session with the Commissioners follows the presentation.

File contains a presentation by Vice Chief Alphonse Bird of the Prince Albert Tribal Council. On behalf of the Tribal Council (which represented 12 First Nations at the time), Bird welcomes the Royal Commission to the area and discusses how his organization will be making a more comprehensive presentation on areas of concern to them in La Ronge, Saskatchewan on May 28th. Areas of concern to be highlighted include Treaty Rights, the Constitution, housing, poverty, northern food costs, employment, resource revenue sharing, taxation, infrastructure, health and justice issues.

She provides a brief history of her organization and states that its goals include assisting in the initiation, expansion, improvement and promotion of viable business opportunities for the Gitksan-Wet'suwet'en people, and to pursue federal, provincial and other sources of funding to assist Gitksan-Wet'suwet'en people in achieving individual economic independence. Following the presentation is a question-and-answer session with the Commissioners.

This file contains a presentation by Wayne Taylor illustrating the numerous barriers Aboriginal people face in seeking involvement in small business and economic development in Canada. The Edmonton Chamber of Commerce has recognized challenges such as lack of skills, lack of direct linkages with the business community, and prohibitive government policy that impedes the progress of Aboriginals becoming small business owners.

File contains a presentation by William Koe Councillor, Tetlin Gwich'in Council. William Koe presents on his concerns regarding education and the economy in Fort McPherson. He discusses drop-out rates, upgrading programs, local training courses, trades training, business support courses, writing workshops, and getting jobs for the community.
