A sketch of a steamboat, possibly the Northcote, coming under Metis fire during the Northwest Resistance. The title is apparently erroneous as there was only one relief expedition to Battleford and it neither came under fire or involved river boats.

Mr. Paulhus is of French descent, not Metis. He is married to a Metis and has lived most of his life in a Metis community in the Duck Lake/Batoche area. He gives his impression of the Riel Rebellion, the causes, the battles and views of Riel and Dumont.

This news release announces that the Glenbow Museum has acquired the archival collection of Oliver B. Buell, a distinguished CPR photographer during the late 19th century. Among the significant documents is an important letter written by Louis Riel on 1 August 1885, at the time of his trial for treason, and photographs taken by Buell at Riel's trial include a courtroom scene and portraits of Riel's defense lawyers.
