Description
Tells the story of the Papaschase Cree Indian Reserve Number 136. Includes photos of Frank Oliver, editor of the Bulletin, his home, Betsy Brass, and a historical map of the reserve.
Survey sample contains a total of 1,606 completed interviews, including oversample of 200 youth. In addition, eight focus groups comprised of 12 youth were conducted. Topics included education, health, employment, television programming on APTN, and internet connectivity.
Bill was supposed to remedy the sexually discriminatory section 12(1)(b) of the Indian Act; deals with who is entitled to Status. Document covers issues such as reinstatement backlog and priorities, registration documentation, identification of father/illegitimate children, and funding issues (health, education, housing, child welfare) resulting from increase in status population.
Explores the possibility of creating these reserves as solution to the housing issues facing First Nation members in Saskatoon. Report forms part of the Bridges and Foundations Project on Urban Aboriginal Housing.
