Council provides advice and recommendations to the Government of Alberta and interested stakeholders on strategies to improve the economic security of First Nations women.
Resource guide includes information on: Aboriginal Communities and Services, Spirituality, Aboriginal Culture, Cultural Beliefs and Practices, Mi'kmaq Language, Mi'kmaq History and Band Governance and Identity.
Barriers included lack of access to legitimate, affordable financial services and capital, absence of employment and benefits systems, increased consequences of poor decisions, lack of trust in financial institutions, and structural problems created by relationship with the government. Recommends efforts focus on educating individuals through culturally appropriate training, and building capacity of Aboriginal governments and institutions.

One hundred and twenty-four were of First Nations ancestry and 46 of Métis ancestry. Areas of focus consisted of information collected during intake assessment (demographic, sentence, offence, personal history), institutional adjustment, social support, release-related information, and post-release outcome.
