Study works with 47 Indigenous clients of the De dwa da dehs nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre (DAHC) in Ontario who are at risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Each client received three educational sessions delivered by an Indigenous nurse, the clients’ health literacy was assessed prior to and following the education session and found to be greatly improved by their attendance.
Looks at health determinants such as chronic illness and risky behaviors that effect well-being and social determinants that contribute to disadvantages in areas of education, income and employment.
