Description
Study employs the Arctic Social Indicators (ASI) framework to assess the health of six communities in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR). Indicators assessed include: health and population, material well-being cultural vitality, closeness to nature, education, and fate control.
An interview that includes stories of hunting, trading and food gathering. Also included are stories about the Frog Lake massacre and Wihtiko (cannibal monster)
File contains an individual presentation by Chief Francis Penashue describing the culture and values of the Innu people pre-European contact, and now Innu communities are dealing with substance abuse, family dysfunction and high unemployment and welfare rates. Following the presentation are brief remarks by Rene Dussault, Co-Chair.
