Discusses a summer day-camp program conducted as part of a community-based participatory research project developed in collaboration four different Métis Settlements. Researchers considered inner strength, a mental toughness, and the capacity to bounce back, learn and thrive when faced with challenges at both the individual and community levels.
Program consisted of summer day-camps aimed at building resiliency in youth from four Métis Settlements in Alberta (Buffalo Lake, Elizabeth, Fishing Lake, and Kikino). Surveyed over 750 Indigenous people living, working or accessing health/social services in the city. In addition to health questions, respondents were also asked about other topics such as culture and identity, criminal justice, parenting and involvement with child protection agencies, and missing persons.

Results from 63 agencies (57%). Objective was to establish baseline of costs, identify cost drivers, and gain an understanding of current context. Study was conducted between September 25 and November 22, 2017. Includes questionnaire.
