Historical note:
On 2 May 1885 Lieutenant Colonel William Otter was defeated by Poundmaker's war chief Fine-Day at the Battle of Cut Knife near Battleford, SK. A flying column of Canadian militia and army regulars was defeated by Poundmaker despite their use of a Gatling gun.Black and white photograph intended to portray the assimilation of the Indigenous people, featuring Moostoos, the Cree Chief of Sucker Creek Reserve near Edmonton Alberta. Uses federal legal ownership of on-reserve housing plus local band level politics as reasons why housing projects continue to be inferior in comparison to off-reserve housing.
