Historical note:
On 2 May 1885 Lieutenant Colonel William Otter was defeated by Poundmaker's war chief Fine-Day at the Battle of Cut Knife near Battleford, SK. A flying column of Canadian militia and army regulars was defeated by Poundmaker despite their use of a Gatling gun.Discusses wampum belts, produced by tribes of the Eastern seaboard from 1600 to 1800, including their distinct beadwork styles, their functions and the practice of reuse of beads.
