Authors use several typing methods to describe the genetic characteristics and the carriage dynamics of Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) isolates collected prior to and during the vaccination period of Aboriginal infants from the Northern Territory of Australia. Study found high carriage rates of nonencapsulated H. influenzae (NCHi) with concurrent colonization with Hib being common, while also observing NCHi isolates that were genetically similar to Hib.

The Canadian/American Pacific Salmon Treaty was signed in 1985 to split the Pacific salmon stocks between Canadian and American fisheries. However, the Lummi Tribe were guaranteed fifty percent of Pacific salmon stocks in Washington State from a 1974 Federal Court decision. This paper looks at the impact of the Pacific Salmon Treaty on the Lummi and their reaction to the agreement.
