Questions were asked about 13 indicators: good understanding of past and present; acknowledgement of government, residential school and ongoing harm, engagement, mutually respectful and nation-to-nation relationships; personal and systemic equality; Indigenous thriving; Indigenous languages; respect for natural world; and apologies.

The Rocky Mountain Rangers, under Captain Stewart, and the Moose Mountain Scouts, under Captain White, were also put in commission for service during the 1885 Resistance.Lesson plans focus on Native Americans who are fighting invisibility and creating change through their work, contributions from the past, and current actions which will impact the future.

On 2 May 1885 Lieutenant Colonel William Otter was defeated by Poundmaker's war chief Fine-Day at the Battle of Cut Knife near Battleford, SK. A flying column of Canadian militia and army regulars was defeated by Poundmaker despite their use of a Gatling gun.Initiative was established in 1978 and involved Aboriginal special constables policing reserves and Inuit settlements in Ontario and Quebec.
