Historical note:
A video entitled '1993 Gathering of Elders' was recorded in 1993 by Saskatchewan Education, Training and Employment and shows the activities of the gathering. The footage was edited into a finished video in 1994. Camera was by Sam Hardlotte, Glen Markwart and R.J. Buffalo Bill Cody helped found Cody, Wyoming in 1895, and established his TE Ranch in the area. In 1902, he built the Irma Hotel, which he called "just the sweetest hotel that ever was." Introduction and two archival items discuss the employment of Aboriginals in the agricultural sector. The first deals with the Dept. of Indian Affairs efforts to recruit them as migrant farm workers. The second discusses the exclusion of farm workers from protection under labour laws. Taken from the 1966 National Agricultural Manpower Committee Meeting.
