Brooks moved from eastern Canada to what is now Indian Head in the spring of 1882; went into partnership in with George P. Murray to form Murray and Brooks, General Merchants, 1883. In 1885 he sat on the jury that found Louis Riel Guilty of High Treason. Originally published in 1921. This version transcribed, curated and with additions. The author was the Indian Agent for the "Blood and Peigan" Indians from 1898 to 1911.
