Historical note:
Charcoal (Si'-okskitsis) was renowned for his strength and cunning as a warrior. He killed his wife's lover, fired at an Indian agent and a NWMP, and later killed a NWMP sergeant and was executed in 1897.Edited version of a discussion paper prepared by E. Davie Fulton to assist in the resolution of the Lubicon Lake Band's struggle for tradition lands. The Lubicon Cree were missing from the original signing and negotiations of Treaty 8. Introduction by Peter Kulchyski.
