Joan Beatty was the first Aboriginal woman elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature. Prior to this Beatty had a career in journalism and production, as well as management at SaskTel.Historical note:
Buffalo Bill Cody helped found Cody, Wyoming in 1895, and established his TE Ranch in the area. In 1902, he built the Irma Hotel, which he called "just the sweetest hotel that ever was." Buffalo Bill maintained two suites and an office at the hotel for his personal use.Historical note:

On 2 May 1885 Lieutenant Colonel William Otter was defeated by Poundmaker's war chief Fine-Day at the Battle of Cut Knife near Battleford, SK. A flying column of Canadian militia and army regulars was defeated by Poundmaker despite their use of a Gatling gun.Historical note:
