Louis Schmidt's memoirs and addendum provide an autobiographical account of his life, the plight of the Metis and their grievances, the causes of the Red River Resistance of 1869-1870, his secretarial responsibilities with Louis Riel, and the struggle leading to the establishment of Manitoba as a province.
