Topics include climate change, demographics, Indigenous governance, housing, human rights, Indigenous languages, migration, famous people, original place names, residential schools, seasonal cycles, symbols, timeline, trade routes, and treaties, land disputes, agreements and rights.
Although activities were created for the giant floor map, they can be adapted to the printable tile version.
Colouring storybook features a grandparent and grandchildren engaging in conversations about traditional teachings, when to begin and end harvesting, the equipment used, and processing and use of maple sugar. Text in English with some Ojibwe words interspersed.
Discusses the long history of Indigenous agriculture, how plants from the New World spread to the Old. and the need to return to traditional practices and regain food sovereignty. Educators share their experiences and lesson plans which use the story of the Three Sisters to teach a variety of subjects. Created to accompany the video.
