Autobiography of Leslie Garrett, born 1898 into a religious family in England. He became a minister of the Church of England after emigrating to Canada in 1913. In 1923 he was assigned to Big Trout Lake, ON, and did missionary work among the Aboriginal population for 31 years. In 1953 he moved to Loon Lake, SK, as a senior missionary for the Northern Canada Evangelical Mission.
Examines how the structure of native institutions and property rights provided a relatively high standard of living in the mid eighteenth century and for part of the nineteenth, then was unable to experience modern rates of economic growth and provide avenues for further development.
Personal diary of Major Smith of the I.S.C. Toronto Brigade during the Brigade's march west. Observations include health of fellow soldiers, the weather, and the monotony of waiting for next orders. Brief entries after 23 April 1885, final entry on 18 May 1885. Diary has metal clasp, black cloth covers and marbleized end papers. Item found within folder 2 of file Rebellion, 1885.

This file contains a presentation by Jane Vinet that describes the Association as an animal welfare organization dedicated to improve humane trapping methods. Vinet offers a number of recommendations to the Commissioners, including coordinated partnerships to implement trap replacement and trapper education programs, and that Aboriginal trappers voluntarily adopt trapping regulations in accordance with the humane trapping regulations as a minimum standard. A question-and-answer session with the Commissioners follows the presentation.

Turner outlines three reasons why it is becoming increasingly difficult to make a living off the land: the activities of animal rights groups who oppose trapping, the activities of sport hunting groups who oppose subsistence rights to hunt, and the development of hydroelectric projects which negatively impact habitat. Turner then goes on to discuss how Aboriginal people have increasingly adopted European values and look with disdain upon trapping as a career choice.
