Study found that users were more likely to be housing insecure, female, middle-aged, unemployed, Aboriginal and lack a high school education. Compares results with those from a previous study conducted in Iqaliut, Nunavut.
Critiques federal government's programs for the provision of housing, which authors argue failed to take into account Inuit culture, designed and built houses suited to needs in the South rather than the North, and set up housing authorities and community councils that were, in effect, run by Whites rather than by Inuit members.

She hopes that Grades 11 and 12 will be offered soon as students must leave home to finish high school in Yellowknife. She calls on the Commission to help with proposed funding for a new building that would hold Grades 9-12 under one roof. A lengthy question-and-answer session with the Commissioners follows the presentation.
The file contains a presentation by the Metis Nation of the Northwest Territories by Gary Bohnet, and Garth Wallbridge. President Gary Bohnet discusses health, education (including post-secondary), economic, housing, trapping, and equity of access to programs for Metis people. Garth Wallbridge discusses the Metis Nation Accord, the failure of the NWT to develop a Metis curriculum despite developing a Dene curriculum, home ownership programs, government assistance for Aboriginal people generally, and the definition of Metis people.
