Historical note:
Ruth Cuthand was born in Prince Albert, SK in 1954 and grew up near the Blood Reserve in Alberta. Her heritage is Plains Cree and Scots/Irish. Her Aboriginal culture and memories of her childhood experiences are often the inspiration for her art-making practice.Looks at one way to cross the cultural boundary in Aboriginal literature by examining the purpose of author Maria Campbell, in Halfbreed, Beatrice Culleton, in In Search of April Raintree, and Lee Maracle, in I Am Woman.
