On 2 May 1885 Lieutenant Colonel William Otter was defeated by Poundmaker's war chief Fine-Day at the Battle of Cut Knife near Battleford, SK. A flying column of Canadian militia and army regulars was defeated by Poundmaker despite their use of a Gatling gun.Relates how a non-Aboriginal parent's right to harvest organs and cremate an adoptive son superseded a Cree biological mother's right to bury her adult son according to First Nation spiritual and cultural beliefs.
