British Columbia First Nations Data Governance Initiative (BCFNDGI)
Description
The seven categories are: culture and languages, community driven and Nation-based, community engagement,,communication, collaboration, connection and commitment. For each category a value statement, a standards outline statement, and outcomes are given.
Goal is to help staff working in hospital settings to provide culturally responsive services grounded in values, practices, concepts and views of health common to Indigenous peoples the region.
Provides census data by age, gender and heritage group and assesses economic development outcomes for First Nations on and off reserve, Inuit and Métis and implementation of the Federal Framework for Aboriginal Economic Development.
Information on the Beothuks, Innu, Mi'kmaq and Inuit of Newfoundland and Labrador. Topics include history, culture, land use, land claims and impact of non-Aboriginal activities.
Findings based on literature review, survey (250 respondents), and three case studies. Produced as part of the National Reading Campaign's Aboriginal Policy Initiative.
