Public Policy Thesis (M.P.P.)--Simon Fraser University, 2013.

Researchers gathered information through conducting talking circles at the Edmonton Aboriginal Seniors' Centre and the Operation Friendship Seniors Society. The most common issues were discrimination by landlords and neighbours, difficulties in locating and accessing housing services, and inability to have family members stay. Makes eight recommendations. Several of the seniors tell their story in this video.

Attempts to assess the usability of Massey and Denton's five-dimensional structure of segregation for the study of settlement patterns of Aboriginal people in Canadian cities.

Identifies seven strategic directions (research, legislation, policy, program, education, community development, leadership) and makes recommendations to address issues raised.

In-depth interviews were conducted with 36 individuals who had moved to Toronto from rural or reserve settings. Participants identified issues such as difficulties accessing services/benefits they were entitled to and lack of respect for culture and identity.

Highlights some of the main issues faced taking into account the diversity between non-status First Nations, Inuit and Métis women.

Brief document discusses the nature of the problem and makes four recommendations dealing with research and strategic interventions.

Discusses factors contributing to the housing crisis and resulting consequences on the physical and metal health of women and children.
