Goals of the Forum were to begin a dialogue on policy and program initiatives between government officials and Aboriginal women's organizations, to share practices on violence prevention, and to showcase programs and services from across the country that are making a difference.

Looks at women's experiences in Edmonton, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal. Research involved literature review and interviews with forty-six Inuit women, twenty-two service providers, and, when possible, focus groups. Four objectives of study were to identify motivations for migration/relocation to urban centres, examine challenges faced, discuss primary effects on roles and responsibilities, and to identify supports needed.

Overview of Algonquin land claims in Ontario and case studies of Indigenous activism including Chief Theresa Spence's hunger strike on Victoria Island and the Idle No More movement.

In interviews, thirty-three individuals from across Canada discuss living in urban centres, identity, and contemporary issues they consider to be important. Each interview is approximately 30 min. long.

Study undertaken to provide information for development of strategic resource allocation, understanding of current policy approaches and legislative frameworks, and on-going issues faced by the population in the cities of Thunder Bay, Ottawa, Barrie/Midland/Orillia, Sudbury and Kenora.

Study focused on: education, culture and identity, political representation, housing, economic development, racism, health, economically successful residents, youth issues, and gaps in social services. Research conducted through key informant interviews, life histories, focus groups and community survey. Sample size of 340.
