Pelican Narrows

This file contains excerpts from a type-written diary called "Northern Saskatchewan Holiday," by Annie M. (Nan) McKay and Christina Bateman, 9 August to 16 September 1919. It highlights their trip to Lac la Ronge. There is also a list of photographs from the trip that are held at Saskatchewan Archives Board.

Book review of: Bitter Embrace by Maggie Siggins.

A draft proposal relating to economic difficulties experienced by residents of northern Saskatchewan. The proposals are to include both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal inhabitants and include the construction of filleting plants, longer fishing seasons and guaranteed wages for Aboriginal workers.

Harold Nelson Woodsworth served as an Indian Agent at a number of agencies in Saskatchewan.

Examines four prominent cases involving sexual violence perpetrated against Indigenous women and girls by white men to demonstrate how the Canadian legal system has failed both to protect Indigenous women and to properly punish those responsible. This chapter of Reginald Beatty's diary relates to an encounter with 300 Sioux Indians from the United States at Fort Ellice. Third part of story. Item found within folder 'Reginald Bird Beatty Papers.'

Argues that there are three geographies which affect the challenges and possibilities of using technology in patient care. Based on first author's participation on a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) New Emerging Team (NET) research project dealing with assessment, diagnosis and management of individuals with dementia. Focuses on La Ronge, Beauval, Pinehouse Lake, La Loche, Ile a la Crosse, and Pelican Narrows.
