Through analysis of interviews with 33 caregivers, research team identified several factors that affect food systems, dietary decisions and food sovereignty. Study surveys 151 children 8 – 12 years old in seven schools in the Northern Slave Region of the Northwest Territories to assess their knowledge and opinion about the wolverine (gulo gulo). Children in rural areas had more knowledge of the species, and in both rural and urban communities there were negative associations with the species, but also an appreciation of their ecological role.
