ICC concluded that Canada is responsible for the loss of use of the land since 1891, breach of Treaty and fiduciary duty, and recommends negotiation of settlement under Canada's Specific Claims Policy. Commissioners include: Renée Dupuis and Alan C. Holman. [This file has been saved and made available online with permission from the Indian Claims Commission website before it closed down in March 2009.]

Historical note:

Fort Carlton was a Hudson's Bay Company fur trade post from 1810 until 1885. As a Company post it primarily dealt in provisions, namely pemmican and buffalo robes although other furs were traded as well.

George Gwynne Mann Family Fonds

Description
George Gwynne Mann was a farm instructor and Indian agent for the government of Canada in Onion Lake, North-West Territories from 1879 to 1900. Mann and his family fled Onion Lake to Fort Pitt after the so-called Frog Lake "massacre," and were later taken as hostages from Fort Pitt and held for two months by Plains Cree warriors. The file contains hand written manuscripts and photocopied documents that detail Mann family's involvement in the 1885 rebellion, and describe aspects of Aboriginal ceremony and culture.
