Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples: Presentation by Doreen Pichette and Bernice Archibald, Ininew Friendship Centre, Cochrane, Ontario

File contains a presentation by Doreen Pichette and Bernice Archibald. The presenters are Aboriginal court workers affiliated with the Friendship Centre. They describe the Native Family Court Work Programme and its aims: "to ensure access to all Native people in Ontario to the best legal and justice-related services prior to, during and following a court appearance and to maintain the effectiveness of those services, and to help bridge the cultural and linguistic gap between the Native people and the judicial system." They call on the Commission to help provide more rehabilitation facilities for those Aboriginals suffering from drug, alcohol and solvent abuse. A question-and-answer session with the Commissioners follows the presentation.
